Orange you glad you have hazel eyes?

For years I've been told purple really helps to make hazel eyes pop, but during my trip back to the States I learned from a MUFE artist the colour orange works even better!

Yesterday I experimented with Inglot's shade no. 407, Burberry's Trench No. 2, Gold Pearl No. 26 and Dior's Camouflage.

Inglot 407

To get the look above, follow these steps:

  • First, apply primer and allow to set.
  • Second, apply a neutral cream hue from your lash line to just above the crease. I used Burberry's Trench No. 2.
  • Then, starting from the inner corner and ending at the centre of your lid, dab on an orange shade of your choice. I went with 407 due to its sheer formula.
  • Contour your crease with any shade you like; I'm still smitten with Dior's Camouflage, a smoky greenish grey.
  • You're almost there! Gently apply a sheer wash of something sparkly. Burberry's Gold Pearl No. 26 worked like a charm
  • Finally line your eyes and apply mascara.

If you really want to amp up the orange, apply a white base first. NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk works well and it's cheap too!

Dupe of NARS Ramatuelle

Before jumping the gun and dropping something heinous like $89 smackeroos - need I remind you about Arabian Nights?  I decided to take a closer look at the newest NARS trio, Ramatuelle, online, to see if I could duplicate the look with what I already own.  I think I came pretty close.

NARS defines the three shades (from left to right) as silver, icy peach and apricot.  Typical colours which are deemed as being on trend when squeezed into a little black compact.  I'm not being cruel or smart, just savvy with my bottom line.

Lucky for me, I own MAC eye shadows in Electra (a heavy silver which has blue undertones) and Shroom (the champagne of beige), as well as Inglot's shade #407 (sherbet orange). Go on an archaeologic dig, dust off a few compacts and you will most certainly be able to find these colours in your own arsenal.

In order to get the look above, I applied shroom from the lash line to just below my eyebrow - essentially, all over. Then, I patted #407 on my eyelid and blended the colour into shroom. Finally, I dusted electra on the inner corners and winged it within the crease in order to open my eyes.

I firmly believe in using an eye primer before applying eye shadow; my lids have a tendency to get oily and quite often damage the effect I was going for.  NARS Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base is quite simply the best.  Tina Turner must be referring to NARS whenever she sings that song.

The final look

The final look

Summery, soft and easy to accomplish.

One final, side-by-side comparison...

Inglot Eyes

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection..the lovers, the dreamers and me

Rainy day, not so much.  But I did get around to playing with my palette as promised.  The colours strike me as Mardi Gras - I'm a few days shy and bare no beads (get your mind out of the gutter)!

Here's how I accomplished this look:

1. On my lids I started with NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base and then followed it up with Inglot's Eye Makeup Base in 01

2. With MAC brush 217, I applied shade #46 from lid to brow

3. Again, with brush 217, I blended shade #16 from my lower lid to my brow bone

4. Then I took MAC brush 239 and applied shade #407 and gently smudged that all over my lower lid only

5. With the help of Inglot brush 8OHP, I lined the inner corner of my upper lash line and then followed along my crease and winged it out with shade # 473

6. I then went back to brush 239 and lined my lower lash line with shade #441 from the inside and worked my way out in order to create a mirrored wing

7. Last, I grabbed MAC brush 266 and MAC Blacktrack and lined my upper lash line and aimed for the cat eye effect

8. To wrap up the look, I applied individual lashes to the outer corners of both eyes

9. On my cheeks I am wearing NARS Gilda and on my lips I patted on some clear lip gloss

This is definitely a more adventurous look, but I had so much fun experimenting.  I've been wearing the Inglot shadows and lashes for close to four hours and still have yet to see any creasing.  By pairing two bases, I think I've cracked the code for what works best on me.

The Bagful breakdown:

Total amount for my latest Inglot splurge:

  • $109.50 AUS

Value for money spent (performance and quality):

  • 10 out of 10 bags - Colour me happy, this girl's an Inglot addict

Likelihood to purchase:

  • Until I really get the hang of using the shades I recently purchased, I fear that I will have to stear clear of Inglot for quite sometime

Inglot Swatches

After a super quick trip to Inglot a few weeks ago, I made sure I scooped up a few bright colours to play with.  Now that think I about it, my new palette reminds me of the colours found in the header. Unrealized and or subconscious inspiration methinks.  Scott waited in the wings as I narrowed down my selections; I decided to go with a freedom palette of five and threw in Inglot's eye makeup base in shade 01 in order to enhance the rainbow.

The other items on my list to purchase were false eyelashes and Duo adhesive.  Since my makeup lesson at Mecca, I've been dying to try to attempt to apply my own. I've only tried this once before and failed miserably; although, I should cut myself some slack because the lashes were tinsel-like and I was rushing to get ready for a Halloween party - never a good mix.  Since swatching close to two weeks ago, I still have yet to try my new colours.  With another rainy day upon us, I am aiming to create something beautiful and eye-catching.
