This stuff works: Living Proof's No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream

No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream

No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream

I've been a slave to my hair for approximately 15 years; vanity sunk in during my sophomore year of high school as I became more aware of myself and my peers. I was born with blonde hair and blue eyes, but as the years progressed my eyes turned hazel and my hair went from baby fine blonde to super frizzy brunette. Gone were the days of braids and pigtails -- paddle brushes, hair dryers and flat irons soon cluttered the drawers in the bathroom. My new routine would add at least 30 minutes of "required" prep time. Did I also mention I've never been a morning person?

I quickly turned into a grumpy teenager hell bent on fighting my frizzy hair. Now, I'm just a grumpy adult fighting to make it on-time to work!

My frizzy hair

My frizzy hair

More often than not you've seen me with smooth hair with a flick of a wave or curl on the ends; however, I think you'll see me with my natural waves more often, because I've been l-i-b-e-r-a-t-e-d! Living Proof's No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream has saved my arms, gives me additional time to sleep-in and keeps my waves in check.

After showering I wrap my hair in a towel and allow it to stay there while I get ready. After 15 minutes or so, I'll remove the towel, de-tangle my hair with a wide-tooth comb and apply a dollop of No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream from the roots to my ends. Then I'll part my hair, tip my head over and give my hair a good scrunch. The halo of frizz has been reduced and I don't feel as self-conscious about wearing my lazy wavy hair.

Jennifer Aniston Living Proof

Jennifer Aniston Living Proof

It was recently revealed Jennifer Aniston became co-owner of Living Proof and will also serve as a spokesperson for the brand. I figured if she was willing to put her image behind Living Proof, then it's worth giving it a shot -- man, the power of celebrity. Truth be told I've always been a fan of Jennifer Aniston and shared crazy hair envy with many other women and men throughout her tenure. Honey-hued locks with not even one hair out of place. Jealous much?

For those of you who share fine, frizzy waves with the likes of me, go ahead and try this magical potion.

You won't regret it.

About this cream...

The scent: light, but wears off as your hair dries.

Consistency: creamy (as labelled).

Miscellaneous notes: doesn't leave residue on your hair or your hands; I experienced no product build up and your hair will not turn crunchy like it can when gel is used.

Price & Availability: I purchased (1) one 4 oz. bottle of Living Proof's No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream from Sephora for $26.00 USD and had it shipped to Melbourne via Hop Shop Go. For the Aussie set, you can find Living Proof at your local Mecca Cosmetica for $35.00 AUS.

Trying out Dior

There's a first time for everything and I think Dior makeup can get slotted into that category. The crocodile nails don't count ;)

LadyDior

LadyDior

I'm not too sure how I managed to go without, but there are plenty of other brands I've yet to get my hands on -- namely Laura Mercier, Givenchy, Clarins and Cle de Peau. Give me some time and I might be able to conquer such a feat! [Insert sarcasm here].

An optical illusion

An optical illusion

Last week I visited my local Dior counter and had a makeup artist work their magic.

I have deep set eyes and not a lot of real estate on my eye lids, in order to create the appearance of having a bit more the makeup artist tempered light with dark. First he applied the new Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow in Nude from the lash line and stopped just above my crease; this served as the base. Then he focused on the outer corners of my eyes with Khol (a matte black) and Camouflage (khaki green). After blending the darker colours inwards and up for a halo-like effect, he finished with Ribbon as a way to highlight the inner-half of my eyes. With Morse Code-like precision, the makeup artist lined my eyes from corner to corner with the Diorshow Art Pen and painted my lashes with Diorshow Iconic Extreme mascara.

As for the rest of my face, he used Diorskin Nude in shade 22, Cameo; it's a lightweight foundation which provides decent coverage, yet feels like you're wearing nothing. Hence, the name. In order to inject some of the tan I had back into my skin, Diorskin Nude Tan in Sunlight was dusted onto my cheeks and forehead.

Unfortunately I didn't take note of what was used on my lips, but it was a combination of liner, lipstick and gloss.

With this visit I learned the art of shading, had some fun and took home some baubles to practice with ;)

Do you have any Dior products in your stash worth checking out?

It's been a Butter London kind of year (so far)...

A few good colours

A few good colours

I've really dropped the ball with keeping you updated about which colour I'm wearing on my nails. Since the start of 2013 I've tried several new and old shades from Butter London. Something about their palette and ability to come up with interesting names really lures me in week after week.

Knackered is a whimsical duochrome -- one part periwinkle, one part silvery teal and all tied up with holographic glitter. This particular shade is fairly sheer; me thinks it would look awesome over a creamy black, purple, blue or green.

Fash Pack is a creamy caramel-ish taupe swimming in a sea of gold micro glitter. Look fast or you just might miss it.

Kerfuffle leans 'old lady' peachy/pink, but on tanner girls this colour turns back the hands of time.

Keeker is that purple-hued pansy. Sweet, happy and simple.

Macbeth, a lovely red/coral, make for a perfect dupe of Essie's lollipop.

Millions of peaches, peaches for me: The Body Shop's Vineyard Peach

The Body Shop's Vineyard Peach range

Just bitten and the pit, well it's non-existent. And the smell, it's as if someone was dangling a peach right in front of your face. Soft, succulent and juicy -- the way a peach ought to be.

Vineyard Peach Body Lotion and Shower Gel

Vineyard Peach Body Lotion and Shower Gel

My life's been quite peachy with a little help from the Body Shop. Truth be told, three of the four items have been lifesavers after being rotated into my morning routine two weeks ago. The Shower Gel provides a burst of sunshine in my porcelain cream bathroom; my senses are perked up so much that I've considered skipping my morning dose of coffee. You read that right, considered.

After drying myself off, I then smooth on a bit of the Body Lotion onto my arms and legs. During the day I sometimes take a whiff of my forearm in order to get a soft hit of peach. Weird, but it works and don't knock it 'til you've tried it.

Body Butter

The Vineyard Peach Cream Body Scrub is something I've only used once prior to a day at the beach. The creamy consistency helps to spread the product around and the little scubbers work to slough away dead skin.

I really can't comment on the Body Butter, except for the smell (it's just as delicious as the rest of the collection). Personally, I prefer using a lighter lotion, because I don't want to feel like I'm the one who's being worn -- I've always felt this way about heavier lotions. Although, now that I think about it, I might change my tune when the drier, cooler seasons roll around.

Like what you've seen here? Get to your local Body Shop and pick up Vineyard Peach. Btw, this is a limited collection, so start running!

The Vineyard Peach Collection price list:

Body Lotion - $21.95 AUS / $12.00 USD

Shower Gel - $12.95 AUS / $8.00 USD - it's cheap and my favourite by far.

Cream Body Scrub: $27.95 AUS / $20.00 USD

Body Butter: $27.95 AUS / $20.00 USD

A parting gift from me to you...
