Wish list

In a little less than three weeks I'll be off to States to see my parents, my Grammy (shh, she doesn't know yet) and my friends. I can't believe two years has passed so quickly; I remember touching down in Melbourne in a state of panic -- I honestly thought I'd get deported for bringing Mentos (the fresh maker ;) ) from Singapore. Silly, I know.

Melbourne has a lot of ups, but the general price gauging and limited selection of makeup brands leaves me lusting for a lot. Upon my arrival to Vegas the plan is to first visit In & Out Burger; once I'm fat and happy, Sephora will be the next pit stop. I'm not picky P-Cakes: The Venetian, Town Square, Miracle Mile or The Forum Shops will do. I optimistically say this now, but jet-lag might win out. We shall see.

Here's a selection from my lust list:

What's on your wish list?

My favourite Butter London colours

Butter London Favs

Butter London Favs

It's time for a walk down memory lane. Butter London was the first brand of nail polish I used after moving to Australia; I'd heard of the brand before, but we never formally crossed paths. There's no turning back now.

  • Cheeky Chops - my sunny day shade and it also makes for a great conversation starter!
  • Slapper - a creamy teal which jumps off your nails -- it's shockingly good.
  • Blagger - the sort of blue that works year-round.
  • Scouse - not quite blue, not quite purple and it has an element of shimmery sparkle too.

If you love these colours as much as I do, be sure to visit Butter London before 11:59 PM 11 November 2012 and use the code FRIENDS12 when you checkout. To entice you even more, they're also throwing in free shipping for orders greater than $75.00.

I have my eyes on Squatter, Sprog and Swinger -- hint, hint ;)

NARS Luster Blush: for that sun-kissed sort of glow

I'm beginning to build up quite the collection of NARS blushes. The compact is sleek and rubbery; it's the sort of thing I don't shriek about should I accidentally drop it on the floor. That's not to say I purposefully go out of my way to let my notions hit the floor -- however, accidents can and do happen. Unlike their eyeshadows, with NARS' blush formula what you see is what you get. If you want that colour in the pan, By George, you can achieve just that.

Luster Swatch

Luster Swatch

Luster is a "sheer golden apricot" hue I love to reach for now that the sun is shining for hours on end in the southern hemisphere. With my complexion being lighter these days I still yearn for that natural sun-kissed glow sans sitting in a tanning bed or hitting the beach -- those days are over for me. With Luster I really don't need much; whenever I go overboard I run the risk of making my cheeks look dirty. Believe me, it's happened; if you happen to do the same, apply a small amount of powder foundation atop the blush in order to undo.

Sometimes I like to infuse a bit more pink into Luster by layering it under Illamasqua's Naked Rose -- the brown undertones of Naked Rose helps to preserve and combine with Luster. I see lots of potential in Luster's multitasking abilities; bronzer, contour, blush or eyeshadow. Give it a whirl!

What's your favourite go to blush for summer or winter for that matter?
